The September Rainbow group was our most attended group to date, with 74 attendees in total, 51 of which were children. Activities included painting more rocks for the Milton Keynes Hospital Rainbow Path as well as sports in the hall and pool in the games room. The Youth Group discussed what projects they’d like to create and I was given my list of items they will need to get started on their presentation pin board which I’m excited to see come together next month.
Carol helped some children decorate photographs of their special person to be placed on our Rainbow board, while I showed some new beneficiaries around the facilities and support we provide. Marcela kindly donated the food this month, which was a lovely BBQ dinner to celebrate the end of summer, and we presented John with a cake for his big birthday!
The Rainbow Groups are centred on the children with the aim of enabling them to spend time with others who are experiencing the same feeling of loss and grief, which can help them to feel less lonely and isolated. Books and resources are available to parents and carers to take home and many of our volunteers have undergone some form of bereavement training to aid them in supporting the families who attend.
