We succeeded in taking 180 bereaved children and their families on an all expenses paid Christmas treat earlier this month.
We put together a special treat incorporating a 2 coursemeal at Brewhouse & Kitchen, a visit from Father Christmas with his elf, disco and entertainment from Corinas Cool Kids parties and a special visit from Friar Tuck himself who came to surprise the children during his break between his pantomime performances. We finished the day watching Robin Hood at Milton Keynes Theatre which the families thoroughly enjoyed.
Each family also received a souvenir programme and a hamper (generously created and donated by Marcela and her family) to go with the goodies we supplied to the children.
The feedback from families shows how important it is to be supporting them at such a difficult time of year when they are missing their loved ones. The trips compliment the bereavement support we offer all year round which includes provision of books, memory boxes and regular groups to facilitate contact with others who understand the feelings and emotions that living with grief can bring.
