As chosen charity of Ingram Micro we were invited to their annual Cloud Summit, to promote our charity and what we do, to the attendees of the event.
We had an amazing time and were welcomed so very well by all of the staff and attendees we met; it really has been an unforgettable experience. We learned a lot from the keynote speakers, about technology and cloud solutions, all very thought provoking and certainly things that we must consider for the future growth of our charity.
Emma and I felt like real key parts of the team and a key part of the event as a whole. The evening gala dinner was the highlight of the 2 days, with exceptional food and service, before I gave a presentation about my story and the birth of Harry’s Rainbow, and how crucial it is for children to have access to bereavement support.
We are growing rapidly and have registered almost the same number of families in 5 months than we did for the whole of 2018! This places increased financial and resource pressures on our charity for which we are keen to resolve.
To be told after the speech that the Executive Vice President of Global Cloud computing had pledged to donate £10,000 was overwhelming and I must admit that I was in tears at hearing this. The donation will be paying for our beneficiary summer trip taking place in July.
On day 2 we were asked to present an award for Charitable Partner of the Year which was awarded to Softcat for the amazing charity fundraising work they do. We also drew our business card raffle which was drawn by the lovely Mark Forster of Comms-Care and won by Rupert Ryan from Ingram.
We’ve had an amazing and unforgettable experience for which we are extremely grateful to have been given.
