Mindfulness Wands
This months main activity for the children at our sessions was to create their own mindfulness wands. Here are Samuel and Riley demonstrating their amazing artistic skills, and how the wands work.
As well as a fun creative activity the wands are designed to help to teach children to recognising their own breathing, and notice how their breathing is the body’s special clue to how they are feeling (fast breathing could mean anger or fear, slow breathing relaxed, etc.).
The youth group worked more with Toni from Fierce Mind, looking at their own thoughts and feelings, as well as having some fun and enjoying the lovely cakes on offer! It was also very lovely for us all to hear Philip play us the violin. This gave us an idea for the future, to encourage our beneficiaries to share their talents, further encouraging them to have self belief and improve their confidence and self esteem.
The next group is on the 25th November.
