Bespoke Christmas trip to Frosts
48 families enjoyed a bespoke trip to Frosts to mark the beginning of the Christmas season. No matter how many years it has been since a loved one has died, this time of year is full of challenges to face.
One family, who are facing their first Christmas without their wife and Mummy said ‘my wife always used to be the one who would organise Christmas stuff for the kids. I am afraid I just don’t think of it. It makes such a difference having something organised for us by you.’
It’s difficult to put into context exactly how important helping families at this time of year can be. We help to think and create for them, so they can carry on with navigating through their grief, while supporting their grieving children.
This poem sums up the event and how it makes such a difference.
Another Christmas trip, has been and gone
For our beneficiaries, the celebrations are without their loved one
It’s never as easy as once was, when all the family were near
Our families face it regardless, though the rules aren’t clear
This year we visited Frosts and had the place to ourselves
Our wonderful volunteers, and Frosts little elves
Provided a sanctuary, and kept our spirits high
Despite the sadness we feel, there were lots of smiles
The hot chocolate, the party, balloons and Santa
Giggles, gingerbread, and stuffing a bear all matter
It’s hard to describe the importance of these special days
facilitating contact with others bereaved, helps in so many ways
So thank you everyone who makes it so possible
For our beneficiaries to face the impossible
Whether you’re fundraising, volunteering, or donating a few pence
