Our first Rainbow group Online session of the academic year was held on Monday 28th September. The online sessions are currently replacing our face to face sessions until which time that we are able to return to physical groups. We will be re assessing the possibility of a return at the beginning of 2021 once we are able to understand the impact of the second wave of Covid on both our volunteers and beneficiaries, as well as the restrictions we must abide by.
In the meantime we plan to continue with online groups that provide connection and an activity to undertake. We understand that not all children and their parents and carers are able to access us online, due to a range of reasons and so we are also in the process of creating a 6 month distanced support pack, which we hope will engage with more of the children and young people registered with us.
We carried out a short poll during the online session with the 10 children (and parents and carers) who attended and the results showed that some children agreed attending the session had improved how they were feeling and that all parents/carers could see that their child had engaged with the session and enjoyed the activity.
When asked about the activity we had provided, the majority of children said they had loved it and that they would go on to use it at home and school. The option was there during our session for parents, carers and our volunteers to try it too. Why not try the activity for yourself?
All you need is a piece of paper or card and a pen, pencil or colouring pens. Draw around your hand and follow the instructions in the example.
