May 2021
Last September we created a short term programme which enabled bereaved children to receive activity packs through the post, to complete at home together with their families. The activities covered a range of topics to support the emotions and wellbeing of the children we support. The last DASP packs were sent out in April as we added an extra one to incorporate some Easter fun and a chocolate treat, many of which were donated by our generous local community.
Following a review of the Programme and feedback from some of the children receiving the packs, we have created subsequent Wellbeing and Summer editions. The Wellbeing pack features the 3 top activities sent throughout the Autumn and Winter, which are a Positivity Box, a Worry Pet and a Hand Tree. This Wellbeing pack will be available to newly registered beneficiaries as well as those who did not take part in the initial 6-month pack. The summer pack will enable those children who enjoyed the packs to carry on for an additional 3 months whilst we work on returning to face-to-face Rainbow Groups.
Some comments from the children:
“I used a photo of my family so I can see us together when I get up”
“This will be quite motivating”
“I took my worry pet into school to help me not worry”
The children who returned their feedback forms to us each received a certificate and small gift to congratulate and thank them.
