We had an amazing evening at The Brewhouse & Kitchen, celebrating our achievements, volunteers and supporters. The event was attended by over 60 guests including the Mayor of MK. Odette, CEO and founder spoke about how the pandemic challenged us but how we overcame those challenges by adapting existing services and creating new ones by collaborating and partnering with other organisations and our volunteers. We heard from Emma, fundraising manager and Rachel, Family Liaison officer who spoke in more detail about the work they had been carrying out and have planned for the future.
The past year has seen some significant changes, including changes to our Vision, Mission and Values as well as the conversion to a CIO which is due to be completed in the coming months. The biggest change has been in recruiting a part time Family Liaison Officer to ensure we can cater to the rise in support registrations year on year. Our return to face-to-face events has started both with fundraising and beneficiary activities. Emma is busy planning our big raffle as well as sales of our new limited-edition merchandise, and Rachel has been busy organising some special celebrations over the winter months for our beneficiaries.
Changes to Rainbow Groups has begun with structured groups increasing in quantity as well as introducing Rainbow Tools for the children to create and keep supporting them with their feelings of grief and to support positive mental health.
It was very brave of our beneficiaries Jacqui and Kerensa to speak about their experience of bereavement and how turning to our charity enabled them to manage their own feelings as individuals and a family.
Thank you to the volunteers who helped organise the event, sell Harry the Hounds, Candles and Raffle Tickets, and Jade for her amazing Rainbow painting skills!
We finished the evening by handing out awards to;
- Ewa Golabek – Biggest Impact
- Jane Leggatt – Heroes award
- Steve Robinson and Odette Mould – Fundraisers of the year
- Rich Hill from Bushfield School on behalf of all pupils awarded with Junior Fundraisers of the year
