At our latest Rainbow and Youth Group we welcomed over 30 young people and their families. The Rainbow Group enjoyed exploring emotions with playdoh faces and playing some fun games.
The older youth group decorated smooth pebbles to use as a soothing aid if they feel anxious or worried, they also shared some Dominoes Pizza together. Marie-Claire, our new Family Liaison Officer was able to come to the group too and enjoyed meeting the young people and seeing what happens in their sessions.
The younger youth group had some very special visitors from Rocksteady Music School who taught them in two smaller groups. Each group earned a different song on keyboards, guitars and drums, and we all go to enjoy their performances at the end of the session. It was impressive how much they had learnt in such a small amount of time!
These groups are essential to reducing the feeling of isolation and loneliness that any bereaved person can feel. They offer an opportunity to connect, chat and relax in a safe space where everyone there can relate in some way to each other and their unique journeys.
