On 16th September 2018, 38 people took part in the epic 55 miles bike ride from London to Brighton.
We started out on Clapham Common at 8.30am, raring to go! The weather was in our favour as well, no rain and not too hot. With all ages and abilities taking part it wasn’t long before the Harry’s Rainbow Team were spread across the whole course. There was a lunch stop at half way where everyone had a nice break and fuelled up for the final 28 miles. 5 miles from the end of the route includes Ditchling Beacon-this beast of a hill is 1 mile long and has a gradient of 10%-16% – a fair few of the group cycled all the way to the top!Once that was completed the last 5 miles into Brighton were all downhill to the finish on Madeira Drive along the seafront. The lads who joined us from the Broughton Cycling Group smashed the course in just under 4 hours.
We had an absolutely awesome day, everyone finished with a massive smile on their face and a medal around their neck!
We want to thank all the riders for raising a breath-taking £12000 between them for Harry’s Rainbow, this money will be used towards sending our beneficiaries to the Rainbow Retreat next year.
