May’s Rainbow Group was attended by 53 children of which there were 15 in the youth group area. Activities on offer was free play in the outside areas with some sticker crafts in the parent led area. Our facilitated craft area is run by Donna who worked with the children to make their own worry dolls.
Sophia Giblin, one of our patrons attended the group for the first time and helped the youth group come up with ideas for their area.
Sophia said “I was genuinely touched by what I saw at the Rainbow Group, and moved to tears a couple of times. I remember just how tough it is to be a bereaved child. I saw families connecting over child led play activities, teenagers creating friendships over dinner, volunteers who are SO dedicated to the charity and lots of smiles and laughter. I can’t stress the importance of CONNECTION after bereavement when it feels like the whole world is falling apart around you. When we are connected with others we feel safe. I couldn’t be more proud to be aligned to a charity that provides such a crucial service to children and families after bereavement. I wish there was something like this available to me when I was younger.”
