Another Rainbow Group happened this week with 14 children managing to make it during the Easter holidays! We welcomed 4 new families to the groups and they enjoyed personalising their suitcases ready for their Rainbow Tools to go in! We also filled up shaped memory jars, using different colours to remind us of times and thoughts of our loved ones.
Our groups are a vital part of our support, enabling families to connect and showing the children that they are not the only ones who this has happened to. We use games, arts and crafts to be able to offer a relaxed, safe space that allows children to talk about what they are experiencing if they want to. All our volunteers undergo bereavement training and our Family Liaison Officer attends each group to offer more support or advice if needed.
A selection of books are taken to each group, to show the families what other resources we have to offer and there is always a cup of tea and some cake for the adults, more than once our volunteers have been told how nice it is for some of our lone parents to have a cup of tea made for them, and for them to be able to drink it while it’s still hot!
